with Harmony Siganporia

The Sabarmati river originates from Aravalli Hills, in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan before it passes through Ahmedabad and flows into the Arabian Sea, at the Bay of Khambhat, in the Anand district of Gujarat.

In February 2019, Harmony Siganporia walked from Dandi to Ahmedabad, retracing the route of Gandhi's Salt March in reverse and published her journey as a book ‘Walking from Dandi: In Search of Vikas ‘

Having walked from the river’s end, at the Bay of Khambat, while writing her last book, I join Harmony as she now embarks on a journey to locate the source of the Sabarmati.

And with journey, like the water it contains, we reflect upon the river.

What makes a river?

Where does it truly begin, and

What does it mean to the various different lives it touches on its journey?
